BOZEMAN – The Cold Smoke Awards 2013/14 season culminates Jan. 18 at the Emerson Cultural Center in Bozeman. After taking the Winter Film Tour to stops in Bozeman; Big Sky; Jackson, Wyo.; Alta, Utah and Whistler, B.C. the team will return to their stomping grounds for the 9th annual Academy Awards-style ceremony.

“This is a great way to come together and celebrate the amazing community that is the winter culture,” said Brad Van Wert, co-founder of Cold Smoke Awards.

Cold Smoke also engaged winter enthusiasts on its website for the second year, offering them the opportunity to cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award announced at the Emerson event. Every vote cast entered the participant in a contest to win a two-day Canadian cat skiing trip at Powder Mountain, B.C. and a $1,000 cash prize for travel there.

Featured presenters this year include outdoor industry luminaries Scot Schmidt, Conrad Anker, Greg Stump as well as Matt Herringer, who took home last year’s “Soul Award” with his film Winter’s Wind.

Award categories include Best Cinematography, Best Director, Best Urban Riding, Best Powder, and The Femme Fatale – awarded to the film with the most inspiring female presence and performance.
