BIG SKY – If you were impressed by their Broadway Revue in 2010 and wowed by their 2011 production of Willy Wonka Junior, get ready for a whole new level of children’s community theater when Big Sky Broadway kids take to the stage on June 22 and June 23 to perform The Wizard of Oz.
“We’ve nearly doubled our staff (adding a choreographer, set designer and vocal director) and we’ve doubled our shows—with performances on Saturday and Sunday,” said producer Barbara Rowley. “And that doesn’t touch what we are doing artistically.”
“You’ll see us take almost everything to a completely new level,” said director John Zirkle. “We are performing a full-length show, we’ve got local builders helping us pull off much more sophisticated staging, and some new equipment and that will allow us to show off snazzy new light effects.” Even more importantly, he says, “we’ve got seasoned performers. Each year nearly 100 percent of our cast returns, so we’ve got a majority of older, more experienced cast members.”
The Wizard of Oz will be performed in the ballroom of Big Sky Resort. The principal roles have been doubled, allowing the director to cast two Dorothys, Glindas, etc. Check the ticket sales office outside of the post office for a list of who is performing which night. This “box office” is open Monday through Friday, from 10:30 – 12:30. Tickets can also be reserved by contacting ticket sales manager Katie Alvin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
