BIG SKY RESORT
Originally planned for March 1, the 10th annual Snowshoe Shuffle was moved to April 12. The event will feature a torch-lit snowshoe course, dinner and live music, with proceeds benefiting the homeless animals the Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Madison Base Area.
“Every year, we build more support for our community animal shelter,” said Phil Rogers, Executive Director of Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter.
Participants will receive a goody bag from Dee-O-Gee, and can rent snowshoes from Northern Lights Trading Company at no cost. Pretty Paws Pet Grooming is also a sponsor. Dogs are welcomed.
All participants trek the two-mile long course together, Rogers said, calling it “just challenging enough to be fun for everyone.”
The remainder of the casual evening at Headwaters Grille will include live music by the Gettin’ Up Early Boys, dinner and a raffle. New this year will be local mushers teaching the basics of skijoring with your dog. A skijor course will be set up with weighted sleds and harnesses to test the dog’s ability to pull a sleigh.
Tickets are available at the Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter, both Dee-O-Gee locations and at the door. The event was postponed due to extreme cold weather on March 1.
