Big Sky School District’s new Child Advancement Project is looking for volunteers to work with students grades K-12.

Working one-on-one with school kids, CAP Mentors give one hour a week throughout the school year, according to coordinator Julie Grimm.

The program pairs community members with students that have been nominated by their teachers, school staff or parents for academic and social support, and for enrichment. The program, run by the Bozeman-based nonprofit Thrive, has long been successful in Bozeman schools. This is its inaugural year in Big Sky.

Grimm’s goal is to recruit, screen, train, and pair 20 mentors with students by Jan. 1. Mentor training is scheduled for the evening of Nov. 15.

Anyone interested in becoming a CAP Mentor can fill out an application online at allthrive.org.
