Montana Shakespeare in the Parks: ‘As You Like It’

July 1, 2014

Town Center Park, 6 p.m.

Set in 1917 Montana, “As You Like It” tells the story of Rosalind and Orlando who, exiled, must find their way – and love – in a new world.

Music in the Mountains: Freddy Pink

July 4, 2014

Town Center Park, 7 p.m.

Freddy Pink is a nine-piece rhythm and blues/funk band out of Seattle returning for the fifth straight year to kick off the July 4 bash in Big Sky. Kids activities will begin at 6 p.m. and a fireworks show will end the evening.

Grammy-nominated Della Mae joins that stage with four other multitalented young women who are respectful of American musical tradition, but not restricted by it, combining centuries’ worth of musical influences with an emotionally tough, undeniably modern songwriting sensibility.

Music in the Mountains: The Sweetback Sisters

Aug. 28, 2014

Town Center Stage, 7 p.m.

Although formed in Brooklyn during the early 21st century, the Sweetback Sisters model their songs after the vintage country music of 1950s-era Nashville.

Food and beverages from local vendors will be available at all concerts. Please no glass containers or pets allowed in the park during concerts. Admission is free and suitable for all ages.

Fourth Annual Big Sky Classical Music Festival

Aug. 8-10, 2014

Musician, composer and educator Eric Funk has signed on to be the Music/Artistic Director for the 2014 festival, while Maestro Peter Bay will be conducting the Big Sky Festival Orchestra.

Friday, Aug. 8: Angella Ahn & David Wallace at WMPAC, 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 9:

9:15 a.m. – Open rehearsal and discussion w/Spectrum Bass at the Big Sky Resort Talus Room

2 p.m. – Masters class with Angella Ahn and David Wallace

6 p.m. – MSU String Camp Orchestra at Town Center Stage

7:30 p.m. – Spectrum Brass at Town Center Stage

Sunday, Aug. 10:

10:30 a.m. – Discussion with Eric Funk and Peter Bay at the Big Sky Resort Talus Room

2 p.m. – MSU String Camp Orchestra Performance at WMPAC

6 p.m. – Big Sky Festival Orchestra at Town Center Park
