The U.S. Senate’s only farmer is a key speaker scheduled for next week’s The Future of Food conference, hosted by The Washington Post, in Washington, D.C.

U.S. Senator Jon Tester will deliver closing remarks at the May 4 symposium at Georgetown University. He will speak to participants about his experience as a farmer in rural Montana and how he brings that perspective to his work as a United States Senator.

Other conference panelists include renown food writer Eric Schlosser and White House Chef Sam Kass. Britain’s Prince Charles, an advocate of sustainable food, is scheduled to deliver the keynote address earlier in the day. The daylong conference is hosted by the Washington Post.

The Future of Food conference will be streamed live at washingtonpostlive.com/conferences/food/live. Tester is scheduled to speak at around 2:15 p.m. Montana Time (4:15 p.m. EDT).

Tester, a third generation grain farmer from Big Sandy, Mont., recently led the successful effort to strengthen U.S. food safety while shielding family farms and food producers from federal regulations they can’t afford and don’t need.

Megan Paulson is the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Outlaw Partners.
