Whether you’re an elementary student looking for help on a math assignment, a high school senior preparing for an SAT test, or a college sophomore needing assistance with a major research paper, Montana’s libraries now offer you online tutors, writing assistance and practice tests.

The Montana State Library launched Homework MT (homeworkmt.org), a site designed to assist all Montana students from kindergartners to adults in college with their studies. Students in grades K-12 and college students, can connect to a qualified tutor from a computer or mobile device (iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad) for one-on-one, on-demand help in math, science, social studies, and English, as well as writing assistance.

The online tutors are available every Sunday through Thursday from 2 p.m. – 11 p.m. There are no appointments or schedules. Tutors are available online to provide assistance with homework, studying, exam preparation, projects, essays, standardized tests and much more.

Montanans also have 24/7 access to the SkillsCenter Resource Library, which includes thousands of tutor-vetted materials. Whether a student needs a study guide resource, a worksheet for extra practice, or a video tutorial about a specific math concept, she’ll find it in the SkillsCenter. Students may also rate the resources they use and these community ratings are displayed for all users.

“We know that because of the rural nature of our state, the assistance people need isn’t always easy to find or access,” said Sarah McHugh, Director of Statewide Library Resources at the Montana State Library. “Libraries are one place where we can close the gap by providing resources that are accessible to all Montanans regardless of where they are and whether or not their local library is open. All Montanans need is an internet connection and they have access to professional assistance covering a wide range of subjects.”
