HELENA – A Pakistani delegation studying energy issues in the United States is meeting this morning with state regulators at the Montana Public Service Commission.

The eight-member Pakistani delegation is visiting the United States from May 13 to 24 under the auspices of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program.

The delegation traveled to Washington, D.C., and Baltimore before arriving in the Treasure State where they are visiting the Energy Research Institute at Montana State University in Bozeman.

The delegation meets with commissioners during an informational meeting at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the PSC’s offices at 1701 Prospect Ave. in Helena. This is the second time a Pakistani delegation has visited with PSC officials. Former Commissioner Brad Molnar last year met with seven Pakistanis as part of the program.

During Tuesday’s visit, the group has requested a discussion with commissioners about Montana utility law, the PSC and its role in delivering energy to Montana consumers.

The PSC generally regulates private, investor-owned natural gas, electric, telephone, private water and sewer companies doing business in Montana. Anyone may attend Tuesday’s meeting, which will be streaming online at psc.mt.gov.
