Celebrates ’10 years of turns’
BIG SKY – Moonlight Basin Ski Resort is officially open for the winter season. Friday, Dec. 7 the lifts are turning for pass holders only, and Saturday to the world.
Known for its epic terrain and lack of lift lines, Moonlight is also celebrating “10 Years of Turns” this winter season. Although early season conditions exist at this time, the Pony and Iron Horse lifts are scheduled to turn from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Twenty-three terrain park features are set to open in the Freestyle Forest, Bad Dog and Pony Parks.
Details regarding specific terrain openings will be available today at the Moonlight Lodge, online on the Snow Report page, and on the Snow Phone at (406) 993-6666. Although there will be no ski access to or from the Madison Village Base Area, the Season Pass Office and Moonride Rental Shop will be open.
Moonlight’s vast skiable terrain is considered some of the best in North America, and this season, the resort has taken it a step further by making improvements to all beginner terrain on the mountain, including widening and expanding some trails.
Additionally, the resort has created a new run called Flyrock Gully, an intermediate gully run located between Cinnabar and Wagon Trail. The resort’s newest slope-side restaurant and bar, Jack Creek Grille, has new menus this season, including après ski offerings and live entertainment at Jack Creek Bar.
Another new addition is the Bag Jump at Madison Village Base Area. This new terrain park feature is the only one located in the region and although it will not be operational for opening weekend, it’s expected to open soon and will operate weekly from Thursday thru Sunday and additional holiday dates.
