BUTTE – NorthWestern Energy has issued a Request for Proposals seeking up to 45 megawatts of renewable energy generation. The RFP is intended to identify resources to help NorthWestern meet obligations for cost-effective renewable energy from community-owned projects in Montana.
Under current legal requirements, NorthWestern Energy projects an additional need for renewable energy projects starting in 2013. The proposed projects should qualify under Montana’s community renewable resource statutory requirement. Proposals are due by Sept. 28, 2012.
In a press release, the utility encouraged local developers, Montana businesses, energy companies and landowners to submit qualifying projects that provide a “homegrown renewable energy resource for the benefit of electricity consumers in Montana.”
