BIG SKY – Town Center’s newest business opened on Nov. 6 to a strong community response. The 17,000-square-foot building on the corner of Huntley Drive and Lone Mountain Trail, houses Roxy’s Market, the area’s first full-scale grocery store.
Complete with fresh produce, an assortment of organic and natural specialty foods, a deli, and an expansive beer and wine selection, it’s a one-stop shopping experience, according to co-owner Roxy Lawler, and one that’s hit the ground running.
“Overall, we expected a positive reception and strong numbers and have exceeded on both levels,” said Roxy, who owns the grocery store with her husband Michael. “Everyone’s pleased that it’s happening and that it’s here.”
Opening before Big Sky’s winter season gets into full swing has helped the Lawlers and their employees prepare for the bigger crowds that arrive in December, she added.
“Typically in resorts, we find November is still the offseason, and [opening now] gives us a chance to work out the kinks,” Roxy said. The Lawlers opened a Roxy’s Market in Aspen, Colo. in 2009, and are now looking forward to a busy winter in Big Sky.
“We really anticipate the season to turn on from simmer to high-heat,” Roxy said. “We’ve gotten a lot of support from locals. Big Sky deserves the best and we’re ready.”
