BUTTE – The Original Festival returns to the Original Mine Yard in Butte Sept. 12-13. The second annual event plays host to a diverse musical and artistic experience filled with fire spinners, aerial artists, painters, stilt-walkers, craft and food vendors and a musical lineup boasting 21 acts.

The two-stage event begins at 3 p.m. both days and will end just before 11 p.m.

“There’s been a lot of discussion these last 11 months on how we can really improve this event and move it to a much larger scale,” said festival director Matthew Boyle, a Butte native. “I think this year has definitely been a big step in the right direction.”

Major changes to this year’s event include moving it back a month and adding a camping site for visitors.

With 17 bands, four DJs/producers, and afterparties each night, the Original Festival has a musical lineup to satisfy every age group and musical pallet. Louisiana blues, alternative rock, folk, metal, jazz, indie rock, singer/songwriter, psychedelic rock, pop, hip-hop and electronic groups are all on the docket.

Headlining acts include Sound Remedy, You Me & Apollo, American Royalty, Robotic Pirate Monkey, My Body Sings Electric, Sista Otis, and Scott Pemberton Trio.

The lineup also features several local Butte acts such as Chad Okrusch, Shellshock Lullaby, A-Dubbin, A Midnight Drive, Truth Lies in Secrets, and The Trap Door Project.

Rounding out the rest of the acts are artists from around Montana including Voodoo Horseshoes, Cure for the Common, Baby Tyger ft. Pontiac Horns, Three Eared Dog, David Dalla G, Jordan Lane, Modality, and Catamount.

“I think 2014 will be a truly ground breaking year for the Original Festival,” Boyle said.
