Santosha Wellness Center in Big Sky is offering a three-day yoga wellness workshop with renowned teacher Sundari Jan. 31-Feb. 2.
Entitled “From the Mat to the Mountain and Back,” the workshop will encourage students to connect “to the source of your own inner radiance, that vibration which reflects your own divinity,” according to information on Santosha’s website.
Sundari has been practicing and teaching for 30 years and specializes in advanced therapeutic health in the art of yoga. She has studied under some of the most influential teachers of yoga, spending her primary years in the Iyengar tradition and former years in Anusara, according to Santosha. Her gift in sensitivity, humor, and expertise holds the highest intention for the students to reveal their own inner beauty and true nature.
Participants can choose to take just one class, several, or all from the following schedule:
Friday ~ 6 – 8 p.m. The Pelvic Floor
Opening the weekend, this class will explore the bridge between the torso and the hips/legs, as well as all the diaphragms through deep hip openers and floor work with the legs. The floor of the pelvis begins every movement and originates all yoga poses.
Saturday ~ 9 – 11:30 a.m. Connecting to Mother Earth
Generated from the power of the feet, our roots and the presence of the back body, this class will take participants into standing, balancing and asymmetrical poses. Open to all levels.
Saturday ~3 – 5:30 p.m. Yoga Therapy for Back & Knees
This class will have an emphasis on deep therapeutics actions for the lower back and knees, with detailed alignments for the feet, knees and hips, and guiding the muscles to release the lower back.
Sunday ~ 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. The Wave
Beyond the strength of any muscle, this class will explore the fluidity and presence of the wave with backbends and forward bends.

We all are familiar with using a limited palette, but do you use one? Do you know how to use a limited palette to create different color combinations? Are you tired of carrying around 15-20 different tubes when you paint plein air? Have you ever wanted to create a certain “mood” in a painting but failed? Do you create a lot of mud? Do you struggle to achieve color harmony? All these problems are addressed in John’s workbook in clear and concise language!
Based on the bestselling “Limited Palatte, Unlimited Color” workbook written by John Pototschnik, the workshop is run by Maggie Shane and Annie McCoy, accomplished landscape (acrylic) and plein air (oil) artists, exhibitors at the Big Sky Artists’ Studio & Gallery and members of the Big Sky Artists Collective.
Each student will receive a copy of “Limited Palette, Unlimited Color” to keep and take home to continue your limited palette journey. We will show you how to use the color wheel and mix your own clean mixtures to successfully create a mood for your paintings.
Each day, we will create a different limited palette color chart and paint a version of a simple landscape using John’s directives. You will then be able to go home and paint more schemes using the book for guidance.
Workshop is open to painters (oil or acrylic) of any level although students must have some basic knowledge of the medium he or she uses. Students will be provided the book ($92 value), color wheel, value scale and canvas papers to complete the daily exercises.
Sundays, April 14, 21 and 28, 2024
Noon until 6PM.
$170.
