A one-day forum focused on climate change, conservation and mental health will be held Thursday, July 23, at the Emerson Center for the Arts and Culture’s ballroom in Bozeman.
The forum, “Climate, Conservation, and Well-Being,” is organized by nonprofit One Green Thing and will bring together national leaders in sustainability, wellness and conservation to highlight practical solutions to eco-anxiety, a term that describes the mental health toll of climate change, particularly growing concern over extreme weather events and proposed policies that would open public lands to privatization.
The inaugural forum will discuss how to employ change through “joyful daily action” and community building. One Green Thing was founded in 2021 and the nonprofit’s aim is specifically to address eco-anxiety through positive engagement.
The organization is led by CEO Heather White, whose recent book on the subject offers strategies for individuals and communities navigating climate-related stress.
