Big Sky PBR—becoming known around town as Big Sky’s biggest week—has expanded in 2017 adding a golf tournament and a community barn dance to a packed roster of events that also includes a world-class western art auction, three nights of rock ‘n’ roll and two nights of rowdy bucking-bull entertainment between July 26 and 29.
The festivities begin Wednesday, July 26, with the inaugural Rider Relief Golf Tournament at The Reserve at Moonlight Basin. Participants buy a team of four and are paired with a PBR cowboy, with all proceeds benefiting Rider Relief Fund, a nonprofit that provides aid to injured bull riders. That evening, after browsing the Big Sky Farmers’ Market in Town Center, the community is invited to do-si-do their way over to the PBR arena for an old fashioned, family-friendly dance with live calling and fiddle music.
On Thursday, July 27, things really start to heat up with the Big Sky Art Auction under the Golden Buckle Tent at the PBR arena. That night, Big Sky PBR will also present the Thursday night Music in the Mountains performance by Turnpike Troubadours at neighboring Town Center Stage.
All this build up finally culminates in the main event—two nights of electrifying professional bull riding, with Flint Rasmussen serving up the comedy and mutton-bustin’ the cuteness—followed by live music with legendary working man’s rocker James McMurtry on Friday night, and the sounds of Jamie McClean Band on Saturday.
Tickets for Big Sky PBR, which covers the entrance to the concerts on the SAV Stage afterwards, go on sale June 1 at bigskypbr.com. Once bull riding tickets sell out, music-only tickets will be available for sale online and at the venue.
