Big Sky resident dies in motorcycle accident

On Sunday afternoon at roughly 2:15 p.m., a motorcyclist suffered a fatal collision at the intersection of Sourdough Road and Lariat Loop in south Bozeman.

An SUV was traveling southbound on Sourdough, and the motorcyclist attempted to turn left onto Sourdough and enter the northbound lane when she collided with the SUV. On Monday evening, Gallatin County identified the victim as 23-year-old Mackenzie Hatter of Big Sky.

Montana Highway Patrol and the Gallatin County Coroner’s Office investigated the incident, and it was determined to be an accident. Hatter’s cause of death was blunt force injury, and she was pronounced dead on the scene. 

Sheriff Dan Springer offered his condolences to Hatter’s family and friends.
