BZN adds TSA pre-check

BELGRADE – Bozeman-Yellowstone International Airport has joined more than 100 airports nationwide that now offer Transportation Security Administration pre-check services.

This service speeds up screening for low-risk travelers at participating U.S. airport checkpoints, with Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways and Virgin America.

Passengers using TSA pre-check will not have to remove belts, shoes or light jackets, and can leave their laptops in their carry-ons during TSA screening.

Eligible passengers include certain frequent fliers or members of existing Customs and Border Protection, as well as trusted traveler programs such as Global Entry, NEXIS and SENTRI.

“This is a very good thing for our more frequent flyers,” said BZN Airport Director Brian Sprenger in an email to EBS. “It will make the passenger screening process much faster and normally less invasive for those who qualify.

TSA will always incorporate random and unpredictable security measures throughout the airport and no individual will be guaranteed TSA pre-check screening.

Eligible travelers will participate through the following steps: present boarding passes and government-issued ID to the travel document checker; have the travel document checker scan boarding pass barcode; if eligible, proceed to the TSA pre-check lane. Children age 12 and under may accompany eligible adults. –E.W
