Headlining Band: John “Papa” Gros
John “Papa” Gros is a New Orleans-born musician whose sound—melding funk, rock, jazz, and blues—is deeply rooted in the soul of the Crescent City. Launching his career in the early ’90s, he cut his teeth supporting local legends like George Porter Jr. and Snooks Eaglin before releasing his solo debut,
Day’s End, in 2004. Gros spent over a decade leading the beloved band Papa Grows Funk, releasing six albums, before returning to solo work with
River’s On Fire (2016) and
Central City (2020). A dynamic live performer, Gros brings the spirit and energy of New Orleans to stages across the U.S. and Europe, delivering electrifying shows fueled by rich musicianship and the unmistakable groove of his hometown.
