Stories of Coyote, the Trickster by Theatrical Storyteller Kellen Trenal

January 23 @ 5:30 pm 7:00 pm

Beginning this month, MOR will introduce native speakers and educators who will generously share their insights and knowledge, creating a welcoming atmosphere of gathering, learning, and active engagement within the community. The niimiipuu (Nez Perce) people purposefully maintain their storytelling traditions, passing down lessons on history, tribal values, and performance art that inspire and connect us all. Niimiipuu storyteller/performer Kellen Trenal, will share his award-winning stories. Speaker Bio Kellen Trenal (pronounced like “Chanel”) is a visual artist, performer, business owner, and holistic wellness practitioner. Kellen embraces their Black and niimiiuu (Nez Perce) ancestry to empower their work, and as a contemporary Black niimiipuu voice, storytelling, traditional arts, and language revitalization are key ingredients. Public performances of Kellen’s written works have also been featured at the inaugural 2024 Indigenous Fashion Week in Santa Fe, NM, as well as at the 2024 Indigenous Futures 4ever Showcase: Santa Fe Indian Art Market 2024.
