With Thursday’s temperature steady in the 70s, Yellowstone National Park alerted visitors that fire danger has increased to “moderate.
According to a June 13 press release from the park, there is one active fire, which sparked on June 9. “The Milepost 17 Fire is controlled and there is little to no heat left in the lightning-ignited tree,” the release stated.

Although there are no fire restrictions in place at the park, the release reminded visitors to only have campfires within established fire rings and that they must always be attended to. When done using the fire, visitors should make sure the fire is cold to the touch.
“Soak, stir, feel, repeat,” the release stated.
