ARTS COUNCIL OF BIG SKY

BIG SKY – The 18th annual Madrigal Dinner, the Arts Council of Big Sky’s signature holiday event, returns to Buck’s T-4 on Thursday, Dec. 4.

The chefs at Buck’s will prepare a three-course dinner, accompanied by festive music from the Montana State University Montanans, the MSU Brass Quintet and the MSU Chorale.

The evening begins with a no-host bar at 5 p.m., followed by seating for the 6 p.m. dinner in the Montana Room, in preparation for the Ceremonial Procession of the Lord and Lady of the Manor and their guests. Olde English customs are the theme throughout the evening, including fanfares introducing the Ceremonial Procession, the Wassail Bowl and Christmas Toast, the Boar’s Head Procession and the Flaming Pudding Dessert.

The MSU Montanans serenade guests throughout the evening and the MSU Chorale presents a concert finale. The dinner closes with the audience joining the musicians in singing familiar carols. This year marks the 49th annual Madrigal Dinner produced by the MSU School of Music, and the 18th year the production has traveled to Big Sky.

This year’s menu includes a salad with roasted organic Gallatin Valley squash, plumped cranberry, smoked walnut arugula and gooseberry vinaigrette; a main course featuring cider-braised pork roast, chimichurri, white corn cheddar grits and Granny Smith apple slaw; and a dessert featuring Nutella panna cotta. A vegetarian option will also be available.
