The Montana Department of Transportation and Jeffrey Contracting will begin roadwork on U.S. Highway 191 near West Yellowstone in mid-July, with completion expected in about a month, weather permitting, according to a July 6 press release.

The West Yellowstone North project will run approximately 9.6 miles, starting at the intersection of Yellowstone Avenue and U.S. 191 and extending north toward Big Sky. Planned improvements include chip sealing, new signage with flashers and updated roadway striping.

Drivers should expect temporary parking restrictions, lane closures and flaggers directing traffic during construction. The project team plans to notify area businesses in advance of parking restrictions.
