Series Concert: Come From Away\n\nDate: Tuesday\, April 7\, 2026\nTime: 7:00 PM\nLocation: Big Sky Center for the Arts\n77 Lone Peak Drive\, Big Sky\, MT 59716\n\nTickets\n\nBaroque Music Montana presents “Come From Away”\, a recital celebrating Montana immigrants from pre-statehood to today through musical compositions. The program opens with Sorrow in the Desert by Tan Dun (Chinese) from his Hero Sonata inspired by his film score for the movie Hero\, Norwegisch\, Op. 22 by Halvorson in the style of a hardanger fiddle (Scandinavian)\, D’Rivera’s cool and jazzy La Fleur de Cayenne (Latin)\, and Bloch’s Nigun communal prayer towards joyous ecstasy (Jewish). The center of the recital is Georges Enescu’s esteemed Sonata No. 3 “dans le caractère populaire roumain” (Gypsy\, Romanian)\, groundbreaking for its combination of detailed notation eliciting Romanian folk music\, Parisian sonority and musical color\, along with Enescu’s remarkable virtuosity and compositional craft.\n\nMusicians include violinist Carrie Krause who is Bozeman Symphony concertmaster\, founder of the concert series Baroque Music Montana\, principal and soloist with baroque ensembles across the country\, and graduate of The Juilliard School. As professor of piano at MSU\, Julie Gosswiller received the President’s Excellence in Teaching Award\, and is in high demand as a collaborator\, including at the Aspen Music Festival.\n\nCome see our performance at the Big Sky Center for the Performing Arts on April 7.
