Montana’s summer ski area, Beartooth Basin opens for the season

Beartooth Basin, the only summer-only ski area in North America, which sits on Beartooth Highway, is open for the season, they announced on social media.

“You don’t end up at Beartooth Basin by mistake, you chase it,” wrote Ski magazine to honor the event. “There’s no lodge, no cell service, and no RFID gates. Just skiing, and a whole lot of possibility.”

The ski area has a lift staff and professional ski patrol, according to the website, and is open daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with  plans to be open through June 10, conditions allowing. Lift tickets for one day are $50 and can be purchased online but visitors are encouraged to check operations updates and road conditions as U.S. Highway 212 can close intermittently due to weather.
