The Natural Bridge Fire was reported Jan. 6, and is burning near Mile Marker 26 on Highway 298, south of Natural Bridge, within the Yellowstone Ranger District on both public and private land. The fire is estimated at 35 acres, according to an update by Custer Gallatin National Forest.
County, Bureau of Land Management, and Forest Service resources are actively engaged and have made significant progress continuing it 100%, with crews focusing on mop-up operations as of Jan. 8. The fire was determined to be human caused.
“Following mop-up operations and a light dusting of snow across the entire fire area, there is no remaining heat or smoke,” the update stated. “The fire is now fully contained and has been placed on patrol status.”
