Paving work set for U.S. 191 south of Big Sky next week

Drivers on U.S. Highway 191 should expect delays starting the week of Aug. 24, as crews begin repaving a three-mile stretch of the highway south of Big Sky.

According to a press release from the Montana Department of Transportation, MDT and CK May Excavating will be performing an asphalt overlay and chip seal on U.S. 191 from the Montana Highway 64 intersection south to the River House, weather permitting.

Crews will work daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. with traffic control in place. Because that section of highway has extra width, MDT plans to keep two lanes open whenever possible. When that’s not feasible, flaggers will use enhanced strategies to cut down wait times for vehicles turning on or off MT 64.
