BIG SKY – The Royal Flush Championship slopestyle event comes to Big Sky Resort on March 21, the final in the three-stop series that makes up the 2015 Smoking Aces Tour. The Ante Up Slopestyle was held Jan. 24 at Idaho’s Schweitzer Mountain Resort and Whitefish Mountain Resort hosted the Full House Slopestyle on Feb. 28.
Royal Flush skiers or snowboarders will hit jumps and slide across manmade features, such as boxes and handrails, while a panel of expert judges will score participants on their trick difficulty, amplitude and overall style.
“Big Sky Resort is known for being at the forefront of the winter sports community in the United States,” said Billy Marcial, 2015 Smoking Aces Tour Director. “Smoking Aces Tour is working toward being at the forefront of freestyle skiing and snowboarding in the … Northern Rockies.”
Participants are not required to have competed in the other events on the tour to take part in the Royal Flush Championship, which is open to all registered competitors. A “Tour Champion” will be awarded in each division after the culmination of the Big Sky contest, based on points accumulated by athletes who compete in all three tour events.
More than $3,000 in cash and prizes awaits podium finishers at the Big Sky event. The location of the venue will be announced the week prior to the competition.
