The Custer Gallatin National Forest has temporarily closed Storm Castle Creek Trail #185 due to extensive storm damage, according to an Aug. 7 news release. Crews are assessing sections impacted by debris, unstable slopes and washed-out tread; no reopening date has been announced.

Riders seeking alternatives in the meantime can use Hyalite Peak via Hyalite Creek Trail #427, which remains open to dirt bikes under the timeshare schedule, as well as Hidden Lakes Trail #179 and the Porcupine-Buffalo Horn trail system.
The Forest Service is directing visitors to the Motor Vehicle Use Map for current access and seasonal restrictions, and has posted the full closure order on its alerts page.
