Explore Big Sky to host Q&A after presentations about May 6 election

EBS STAFF

If pivotal ballot initiatives in the upcoming May 6 election aren’t enough to motivate local voters to attend an informational event in Big Sky’s Town Center, perhaps a free drink will sweeten the deal.

On Tuesday, April 1, the Big Sky Resort Area District will host Ballots and Brews with Explore Big Sky from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at The Waypoint, providing an opportunity for residents to hear presentations from local organizations as they promote their ballot initiatives. Drinks will be served, courtesy of the Big Sky Chamber of Commerce.

There will be three BSRAD-related ballot initiatives under the Livable Big Sky campaign: a bond to fund the Cold Smoke workforce housing development by the Big Sky Community Housing Trust; a separate bond to fund the Big Sky Community Park renovation by the Big Sky Community Organization; and BSRAD’s renewal of Big Sky’s 3% resort tax.

A fourth item, separate from Livable Big Sky but with a similar aim, is a proposed property tax levy from the Big Sky School District to support teacher housing efforts.

After presentations, Explore Big Sky’s Jack Reaney will moderate a Q&A with the organization leaders to learn more about the voter education process.

Ballots and Brews is free to attend, and fits into a series of informational events hosted by BSRAD and the Livable Big Sky partners.

Remaining opportunities include Ballots and Breakfast on April 16, and open house sessions for the Community Park and Cold Smoke bonds on April 17 and 18, respectively.
