The Burnt Top Fire is burning 0.1 acres about 2.5 miles from the Buffalo Horn trailhead south of Big Sky. The Buffalo Horn trailhead is located on the east side of U.S. Highway 191 on the Bozeman Ranger District just outside of the Hyalite-Porcupine-Buffalo Horn Wilderness Study Area.

The fire was spotted on the evening of June 1 using an unmanned aircraft system and according to an update from the Custer Gallatin National Forest, wildlands firefighter crews hiked out early the morning of June 2 to suppress the fire, which was contained to a single tree.
