Dr. Marie Nicole Pareja will highlight Bronze Age depictions of mythological creatures in a Friday lecture at the Museum of the Rockies. The talk begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Hager Auditorium, and is free for members and $5 for non-members.

Dr. Pareja will explain how dragons, unicorns and other fantastic creatures went on to become important aspects of Mesopotamian, Greek, and the Indus Valley cultures. As a consulting scholar for University of Pennsylvania’s Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology and an assistant professor at Salisbury

University, Dr. Pareja serves as the plaster specialist at key archaeological sites in Naxos, Greece.
According to the Museum of the Rockies, Pareja has focused recent research on Bronze Age mythology, specifically goddesses and magic, trade, iconography and medicine. Following the talk, the museum will hold a meet and greet reception in the main lobby.
