On Saturday, Nov. 1, athletes of all ages will compete in the MuleX cyclocross race in Ennis, and one participant aged 12 to 18 will receive a new gravel bike donated by Gallatin Alpine Sports and Hardy Drywall.
The businesses joined forces to promote active lifestyles and strengthen community ties, according to a GAS press release.
“MuleX is about celebrating community, encouraging healthy habits, and connecting people. Everyone is welcome to race or spectate, and it’s a lot of wild fun,” Cory Hardy, Ennis Town Commissioner and owner of Hardy Drywall, stated in the release.
Hardy and Tom Owen, owner of Gallatin Alpine Sports, met on a trail run up Deer Creek and down Lava Lake. They share a passion for biking, running and Nordic skiing, and a commitment to supporting local youth programs that encourage kids to become outdoor athletes, according to the release.
MuleX will take place at Lyon’s Park in Ennis beginning at 12 p.m., and registration is open online, with categories for all ages and skill levels. The event is “a laid-back introduction to cyclocross featuring unforgettable course features, delicious food, costumes, and zany prizes,” the release stated. It is hosted by Team Muleterro, self-proclaimed to be “Bozeman’s funnest bike team.”
