Beartooth Highway from Red Lodge to Cooke City expected to open Saturday

A May 30 Yellowstone National Park press release announced that Beartooth Highway (U.S. Highway 212) from Red Lodge to Cooke City is expected to open tomorrow, June 1, weather-permitting. Right now a 19-mile segment of the road is open from Red Lodge to Vista Point.

At this time, crews are working to remove six feet of wet and heavy snow from the high-altitude scenic byway. A significant storm delayed the route’s opening, which was planned for last week, May 24.
