Locals and visitors from afar logged on to or filled out surveys by hand, weighing in on their favorites in Big Sky. This survey was conducted in a “write-in” format. Those filling out surveys had the chance to nominate anyone or any business they chose.

Thanks to all the voters for helping us dig up the best of the best, including top restaurant, après ski joint, and outdoor shop around. And congrats to the winners! We all appreciate your hard work.

Best Cup of Coffee:

1st – Blue Moon Bakery

2nd – Hungry Moose

3rd – Big Sky Coffee and Tea

Blue Moon Bakery won Best Cup of Coffee in Big Sky, boasting piping hot joe and specialty drinks from their espresso machine, including mochas, Americanos and cappuccinos. Best Mountain in Montana:

1st – Big Sky Resort

2nd – Moonlight Basin

3rd – Maverick Mountain

Topping the list of Best Mountain in Montana, Big Sky Resort took the cake. And it isn’t surprising. With 148 of 155 runs open, covering 3,656 skiable acres, Big Sky has the goods. All area resorts started the winter off in epic fashion, receiving feet upon feet of the fluffy white stuff. Hit the tram ASAP! Check them out online at or call (406) 995-4880.

Best Lunch:

1st – Wrap Shack

2nd – Blue Moon Bakery

3rd – Bugaboo

Kim Hueftle (L) makes a mean wrap, and the Wrap Shack won Best Lunch for 2012. They offer affordable monster wraps with such names as the Smokin’ Gringo, with slow-roasted pulled pork and The Buddha, with grilled steak. Choppers walked away with Big Sky’s Best Place to Grab a Drink award. Whether you’re in for apres or posted up for a game on one of their many flat screens, Choppers will quench your thirst.
