Community Health Needs Assessment is compiled every three years in Gallatin County

Bozeman Health is compiling its tri-annual Community Health Needs Assessment, in partnership with the Gallatin City-County Health Department, Human Resource Development Council and One Health. Gallatin County residents are asked to participate in a survey to help paint a picture of the county’s local health needs, barriers to care, and overall health priorities through 2029.
The confidential survey is available online and closes April 30. A Spanish-language version can be accessed through the website. The report will draw from phone and online surveys, targeted questionnaires and a review of public health data. It will be followed by a Community Health Action Plan led by Bozeman Health to implement findings.
“Gallatin County is continuing to grow and change rapidly, and the needs of our community are evolving with it… We are making sure that our public health efforts are grounded in what residents are actually experiencing,” Lori Christenson, health officer for GCCHD, stated in a press release.
The findings will guide how Bozeman Health invests resources, and serves as an important data source for organizations throughout Gallatin County, like Big Sky nonprofit Wellness In Action.
“Data from the CHNA survey is essential to Wellness in Action’s work,” stated Kiernan Volden, director of programs for WIA, in an email to EBS. “It helps us understand where gaps in services exist, informs how we adapt or build programs, and provides the evidence needed to advocate for funding. Ultimately, survey data ensures WIA’s work is aligned with the real needs of our community.”
In addition to voluntary submissions through the online survey, an independent research firm is conducting confidential phone surveys. The firm, Professional Research Consultants, will call from a 406-area-code through the end of May. “All responses are confidential, and results will be reported in summary form only,” the release stated.
The most recent CHNA, released in 2023, can be found here.
