Big Sky Resort has partnered with Rivian to introduce electric vehicles into daily mountain operations this winter, announced a Jan. 13 press release from the resort. Starting Jan. 16, a fleet of Rivian SUVs will begin shuttling guests, along with on-mountain vehicle demos and select après events throughout the season.
As the resort’s official vehicle partner, Rivian is supporting the resort’s efforts toward sustainability and its goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2030, explained the release. The partnership brings Rivian’s all-electric R1S and R1T vehicles, “showcasing how Rivians enable the ultimate mountain excursion,” and operate in a winter climate, said Denise Cherry, VP of marketing Experiences at Rivian in the release.
“For the last decade, we’ve been committed to bridging mountain innovation and sustainability at Big Sky—ultimately to enhance experiences for our guests,” said Troy Nedved, president and COO of Big Sky Resort in the release. “From state-of-the-art lift systems to solar arrays on team member housing to reclaimed water for snowmaking, each initiative drives energy and resource efficiency to help protect where we work and play.”
Throughout the winter season, guests will see Rivian vehicles integrated across the resort, from shuttle transportation to on-site demonstrations designed for snow and alpine terrain. According to Rivian’s website, they will have a permanent set up with a warming hut and two vehicles on display throughout the season in the base area.
