If the rivers are calling your name this summer, The Paddling Film Festival World Tour, hosted by the Arts Council of Big Sky, will whet your appetite. The annual film tour returns to The Waypoint on Tuesday, June 9, bringing six films filled with churning whitewater.
Now in its 21st season, the festival has grown into one of the largest paddling events of the year. This season’s lineup runs the full spectrum of paddle sports, from heart-pounding whitewater to grueling endurance canoe races, with films ranging from quick five-minute shorts to an hour-long adventure on waterways from Scotland to the Mississippi.
The festival started back in 2006 and has since screened over 1,000 times worldwide, drawing more than 300,000 viewers, awarding $100,000 in cash prizes to filmmakers and hundreds of thousands of dollars for local charitable initiatives.
Tickets are on sale at bigskyarts.org.
