Body of missing Big Sky skier found

Weekly Staff

Search and rescue teams found the body of Brad Gardner, the Big Sky skier who went missing in March 9, this afternoon in Lone Lake Cirque southwest of the Lone Peak tram.

The teams followed a recent trail of clues that emerged only weeks ago after winter’s snowpack melted and exposed ski poles one week and Brad’s skis the next.

Brad’s father, Ed, who moved here full time the night Brad was reported missing, formed his own search team of himself and one of Brad’s friends. The two found Brad’s mismatched ski poles two weeks ago; one was on a cliff, and the other was about 80 feet below.

The party found this week Brad’s skis before notifying the sheriff’s office. The office arranged the search for today and tomorrow, and crews located Brad’s body this afternoon.
