The City of Bozeman’s Forestry Division and Gallatin Watershed Council are hosting an Arbor Day tree-planting event on Friday, April 25 at noon at Oak Springs Park. All are invited to attend and participate.
Bozeman has been recognized as a Tree City in the United States for 31 years. To be considered, cities must meet four overarching standards: maintain a tree board or department; have a community tree ordinance; spend at least $2 per capita on urban forestry; and celebrate Arbor Day.
The Branch Out Bozeman initiative is a collaboration between the City of Bozeman and the Gallatin Watershed Council that aims to enhance Bozeman’s tree canopy through plantings that address water quality, social equity and urban heat islands. Volunteer and tree-planting support opportunities are available on the watershed council’s website. Additional plantings will be held throughout the year.
