Taste the flavors from across the region and enjoy live music with the Big Sky Resort Brewfest. On Saturday, July 16th starting at 3:30 p.m. the Big Sky Brewfest will take place in the plaza area of the Big Sky Resort Mountain Village.
Tickets are $10 at the gate for music, brews and other festivities. The admission price includes 10 four-ounce pours from one of the several regional breweries participating. Additional pours can be purchased, as well as full pints to quench any thirst.
“We’re excited to bring this energy to the Mountain Village and showcase the local and regional breweries,” said Steve Merlino, Big Sky Resort’s Summit Food and Beverage Manager. “It’s summer and there’s no better way to celebrate than with great beer, great music and great food.”
Participating breweries include Kettlehouse Brewing Co., Bozeman Brewing Company, Lone Peak Brewery, Bayern Brewing, New Belgium Brewing Co., Harvest Moon Brewing Company, Deschutes Brewery and Great Northern Brewing Company (Blackstar).
Also, stop by and enjoy an afternoon of awesome music and other activities. Big Sky’s Basecamp will be open with fun all-ages activities including Zipline Trips, the Bungee Trampoline, and the Climbing Wall, and food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available on the plaza.
Music will begin at 4 p.m. with Milton Menasco and the Big Fiasco playing a toe-tapping blend of Rock, Reggae, and Country. Last call for brews will be at 6 p.m., but music will continue until 7 p.m.
Lodging packages for Saturday night or the weekend and throughout the summer are available at Big Sky Resort. Check out bigskyresort.com for more details or to book lodging.

We all are familiar with using a limited palette, but do you use one? Do you know how to use a limited palette to create different color combinations? Are you tired of carrying around 15-20 different tubes when you paint plein air? Have you ever wanted to create a certain “mood” in a painting but failed? Do you create a lot of mud? Do you struggle to achieve color harmony? All these problems are addressed in John’s workbook in clear and concise language!
Based on the bestselling “Limited Palatte, Unlimited Color” workbook written by John Pototschnik, the workshop is run by Maggie Shane and Annie McCoy, accomplished landscape (acrylic) and plein air (oil) artists, exhibitors at the Big Sky Artists’ Studio & Gallery and members of the Big Sky Artists Collective.
Each student will receive a copy of “Limited Palette, Unlimited Color” to keep and take home to continue your limited palette journey. We will show you how to use the color wheel and mix your own clean mixtures to successfully create a mood for your paintings.
Each day, we will create a different limited palette color chart and paint a version of a simple landscape using John’s directives. You will then be able to go home and paint more schemes using the book for guidance.
Workshop is open to painters (oil or acrylic) of any level although students must have some basic knowledge of the medium he or she uses. Students will be provided the book ($92 value), color wheel, value scale and canvas papers to complete the daily exercises.
