In its 90 years providing affordable, multi-level ski programs to the Bozeman community, Bridger Ski Foundation has never had a permanent home. This week, the nonprofit organization announced a fundraising campaign that would help them raise the funds to remodel a property purchased to fulfill that dream. BSF hopes to raise a total of $3M to reach their goal.
The Base, as the building is called, is located along Gold Avenue on the northeast neighborhood of Bozeman, and the finished product would act as a center for ski sports training, mental health and community support center, and overall a safe space for athletes to hone their skills learned in BSF programs, as well as do homework and mingle with their peers between school and home hours.
BSF provides affordable ski programs, including alpine, Nordic, freestyle and freeride, of varying competition levels and age groups, manages the community grooming program that maintains the Nordic trails at Sunset Hills, and overall fosters a love for snowsports, according to the mission statement on their website.
“This is a scrappy, efficient $3M campaign — the basics only. With more than $40,000 (and counting) of in-kind giving, every dollar goes further,” stated an Oct. 15 email from BSF. “Winter is coming, construction is happening, and the bills are here. Our urgent goal is to raise $100,000 in the next month to keep this project moving.”
Both funds, labor and appliance donations are accepted, including ski poles and skis, insulation, site work, labor for interiors, furniture, fixtures, tech equipment and appliances. Business partnerships or individual contributions are encouraged. Those interested can contact campaign manager Vanessa Skelton.
