Bumblewood Thicket Fairy Village, a self-guided art installation featuring 21 fairy homes built by local artists, returns to Glen Lake Rotary Park in Bozeman Sept. 10-27. Now in its seventh year, the free, family-friendly event is produced by Random Acts of Silliness in partnership with Gallatin Valley Land Trust and the City of Bozeman, and organizers anticipate more than 24,000 visitors this year.
“The fairies have been incredibly busy preparing for an anticipated 24,000+ visitors, and we’re doing our best to keep up,” said Emily Zlotnicka, Random Acts of Silliness’ executive enchantment director in a Sept. 3 press release. “These three weeks plant a seed of magic and inspiration that grows throughout the year, gets folks of all ages outside and on our trails.”
The village is open during regular park hours, 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., with fairy homes lit nightly until 9 p.m. New this year are a Meet the Makers event on Sept. 21, where visitors can talk with the artists behind the installations, and a downloadable audio tour detailing each structure’s fairy backstory. The event also features Magic Moments, a free walking program with live music and storytelling on select Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
