The City of Bozeman is partnering with certified landscaping professionals, WaterSense and Green Gardens Group to offer a free, in-person watershed-wise landscaping academy. Attendees will learn how to care for soil, water and select plants that work in harmony with their own landscape designs.
The three-day series consists of five classes and will build upon each other. Residents will walk away with a watershed-wise mindset, creating landscaping spaces that sequester carbon, prevent water and air pollution, restore soil, reduce water use and attract life into the landscape. Attendees will learn about building healthy soil, capturing rainwater in soil, selecting climate-appropriate plants and using high-efficiency irrigation.
Every spring the City of Bozeman has hosted webinar classes to inform residents about these topics. Last year, they added one in-person workshop. “The workshop was incredible; homeowners were able to engage in real time and go home with fresh ideas. We saw a huge benefit to the in-person aspect and are now hosting a series of classes in person,” Water Conservation Technician Kori Navarro said in an April 16 press release.
The series begins at the Bozeman Public Library at 6:15 p.m. on May 7. The two following events will be hosted at the Bozeman Public Safety Center Community Room on May 9 at 9 a.m. and May 12 at 5:30 p.m. Classes are free and open to the public. Registrations can be made online.
