Construction continues in Bozeman, specifically on the intersection of Oak Street and Ferguson Avenue, where crews will add left-turn lanes in all directions and update the traffic signal to include a dedicated left-turn phase. That project is set to start July 20. Nearby, the intersection of Oak Street and Ryun Sun Way will be converted to right-in, right-out turns only.
“Improving our roadway system is a key part of keeping our residents safe, something we take incredibly seriously,” said Bozeman Transportation and Engineering Director Nick Ross in a June 30 City of Bozeman press release. “In this project, we’ll create dedicated left-turn lanes, which will ultimately help reduce rear-end crashes and improve traffic flow.”
The intersection is expected to remain open throughout construction, though traffic will be reduced to a single lane at times. Work is slated to wrap up in October. The improvements stem from a 2025 engineering study of Oak Street intersections and were added to the city’s Capital Improvements Plan for 2026 at an estimated cost of $900,000. Combined with a 2025 project at Oak Street and Flanders Mill Road, the city has invested more than $1 million in Oak Street upgrades over the past two years.
