Country Bookshelf to host local author to discuss ‘Salt of the Universe’

Country Bookshelf in Bozeman will host local author Amy Leach to discuss her latest release, “The Salt of the Universe.” Beginning at 6 p.m. on Aug. 7, Leach and fellow local author Scott F. Parker will discuss the book that details Leach’s lessons from playing piano in churches and dance halls, a childhood in the apocalypse-fearing Seventh-day Adventist Church tradition, and colorful experiences in her life. 

Leach’s work has been featured in collections like “The Best American Essays,” “The Best American Science and Nature Writing,” and she has received the Pushcart Prize. Leach grew up in Texas and earned her MFA at the University of Iowa. She lives in Montana.
