Firefighters are responding to a new wildfire start, dubbed the Battle Ridge Fire, that started Aug. 20 west of Highway 86 near mile marker 19, close to the Brackett Creek Trailhead on the Bozeman Ranger District.
The fire is currently estimated at 2.5 to 3 acres, according to an Aug. 20 update from the Custer Gallatin National Forest. Two engines, along with volunteer fire departments and local fire resources, are on scene. Officials are asking the public to avoid the Brackett Creek Trail while fire activity and personnel remain in the area.
