David O’Connor, executive director of the Big Sky Community Housing Trust, will speak about affordable housing for Montana State University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute on Friday, Oct. 10.
The Friday Forum is called “Challenges and Solutions for Housing in the Gallatin Valley” and is free and open to the public to participate on Zoom. O’Connor will discuss housing costs, income trends and “how local organizations and policymakers are addressing housing challenges in the Gallatin Valley,” according to the event description.
Outside of O’Connor’s local leadership in Big Sky housing, he is also a member of the Gallatin Regional Housing Coalition, a project to coordinate and catalyze housing solutions for the Gallatin Valley community. The coalition recently created the “Permanent Affordability Playbook,” a resource for stakeholders who want to improve housing affordability and accessibility in the region.
O’Connor will elaborate on the guide during his presentation which runs from noon to 1:30 p.m. Participants need to register for the forum by 11 a.m. on Oct. 10 and will receive a registration confirmation by email with the Zoom link and instructions to join the meeting.
