Big Sky Discovery Academy is targeting post-skiing hunger for its next fundraiser, scheduled for Friday, Feb. 27 in Town Center.
The Après Chili Cook-Off begins at 4 p.m. at the Big Sky Center for the Arts—the former Choppers restaurant site on Lone Peak Drive being renovated by the Arts Council of Big Sky—and is open to the community until 8 p.m. Tickets are $35 per adult, including a drink ticket, $15 for attendees aged 13 to 20, and free for kids 12 and under. Proceeds from the event will support Discovery’s tuition assistance program.
Participating contestants will include the following restaurants: Michaelangelo’s, Ousel and Spur Pizza Co., The Cabin Bar and Grill, Riverhouse BBQ & Events and Shedhorn Grill.
Beyond restaurants, other organizations are stirring the chili pot: Windy Ridge Chiropractic, Visit Big Sky, Bluebird Boutique and the odds-on favorite, a group of Discovery students.
Entries are closed for the cooking competition, but business sponsorships are available which include tickets to the event. Winners will be judged by the Big Sky Fire Department. Side dishes and dessert will also be served.
“We’re excited to host a community wide event and share with Big Sky what the Discovery Academy has to offer our amazing friends, family, and neighbors,” Discovery board chair Sam Geppert stated in an email to EBS. “Come and enjoy some delicious chili, live music, as well as fantastic raffle and auction items—we can’t wait to see you there.”
Silent auction and raffle prizes include a trip to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, a trip to Cabo, Mexico, a fly-fishing trip in the Yellowstone backcountry, a Big Sky Resort parking pass, and custom skis from Ski Butlers.
A spinoff from local band Dammit Lauren!, The Damn Duo will perform live at the event.
Geppert thanked current sponsors: Ace Hardware, realtor Mia Lennon with Big Sky Real Estate and Bridger Aerospace.
