Earthquake east of Dillon shakes southwest Montana

A 4.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded around 1 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 7 about 7.5 miles east of Dillon, Montana. The epicenter was recorded to be about eight miles below the Earth’s surface. While felt by many in the region, no injuries or damage have been reported.

According to Gallatin County Emergency Management, Montana has seven to 10 earthquakes each day making it the fourth most seismically active state.
