Easels under the Big Sky: Painting Demonstration

As part of Easels under the Big Sky, Robert Moore–a renowned western artist famous for his iconic aspens–will give a workshop on how to create a painting this Friday afternoon. If you have ever wondered how an artist transforms a blank canvas into a thing of beauty, this is a golden opportunity to see it in action as well as to ask any questions during the process. Moore will note key decision points as well as the why and how of color choices. All are invited–from dabblers and hobbyists to the artistically impaired, young and old, art lovers of any stripe. Watch the entire demonstration or stop in to view a portion of it. This is indeed a rare occasion to watch and learn how a master paints.

A native of Idaho, Moore was raised near the Snake River where his appreciation for nature was sparked at an early age. He earned a BS from East Oregon State College and a BFA from the Art Center College of Design in California. He is well known for being an extraordinary and generous mentor to young artists: currently three painters work and study with him at his studio. Every year Moore is a crowd favorite at the Charles M. Russell auction–in quick finish events and the auctions. His paintings hang in galleries all across the West and Southwest. He is married and has six children.
